President Bola Tinubu on Monday presided over the first Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of 2025 at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reported that the meeting commenced shortly after the President administered the oath of office to eight newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, 21 members of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), one member of the Federal Character Commission, and one commissioner of the National Population Commission (NPC).
Among those in attendance were Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, and various ministers. It is expected that several ministries, departments, and agencies will present reports at the meeting.

In addition, Hon. Kayode Oladele, former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Financial Crimes, was sworn in as a member of the Federal Character Commission representing Ogun State. Mrs. Olukemi Victoria Iyantan (Ondo) was also sworn in as a commissioner of the National Population Commission.
President Tinubu charged the newly appointed officials to demonstrate diligence, innovation, and commitment in their roles, emphasizing their responsibility in advancing his administration’s governance and development agenda.
Before the meeting commenced, the FEC observed a minute of silence in honor of former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Jeremiah Useni, who passed away on January 23, 2025.
