At the launch of his book Big Boots, retired military officer Uduonwa revealed his motivations for writing, aiming to inspire serving personnel, military historians, academics, and the general public with insights on national and international security affairs.
“So, that was the motivation,” said, explaining his hope that younger officers will learn from the challenges he faced during his career. He emphasized that military service demands discipline, professionalism, integrity, character, courage, and numerous other virtues essential for fulfilling duties.
He further explained that the title Big Boots was inspired by both the literal size of his feet and his military boots. Recalling his childhood, Uduonwa shared how he dealt with bullies by using his “big feet” to end the torment. In the military, his large boots became symbolic, representing his role in “trampling on terrorists and any threats to national security.”
The book launch saw the attendance of notable figures, including former service chiefs such as Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, Gen. Lucky Irabor, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, and other top serving and retired officers.
