The INEC National Commissioner in charge of Edo, Prof. Rhoda Gumus, has stated that she will not accept any bribe to alter the results of the state’s governorship election.
Speaking on Channels TV, Gumus confidently asserted that no one would dare approach her with a bribe due to her reputation.
In her words:
“I am in charge of Edo. I want to do the right thing, even though I will not be everywhere. We will conduct this election in a free, fair, and credible manner. I cannot take bribes, no matter how much. I don’t need billions to do what is right.
No one will try. No one will approach me. In any office in this country, they know everything about you. And when they know, they won’t come near. If I see it, I will not allow it.
You wouldn’t believe that since we started this process, every day I am on the platform with the EOCs. In two to five-minute intervals, I join the platform to monitor what is happening. If there is anything wrong, I correct it. That is what I have been doing.”
