In a significant move reflecting his administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability, Governor Alex Otti has successfully revived the Abia State Due Process and Procurement Office. According to Dr. Oluebube A. Chukwu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Due Process and Head of the Procurement Bureau, this restoration is a key element of Governor Otti’s policy of zero tolerance for corruption in governance.
During an interaction with newsmen, Dr. Chukwu highlighted how the office, which had been largely non-functional before the start of Governor Otti’s administration, has now become an essential driver of due process in the state. “Governor Alex Otti has breathed new life into the Due Process Office, starting from ground zero to where we are today,” Chukwu said. “We now have a fully operational office, equipped with active staff and the necessary tools that were previously non-existent.”
Under the leadership of Governor Otti, the office has embarked on an ambitious program, including the training of 84 civil servants. These staff members, assigned to various ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), will serve as key contacts for the Due Process Office, ensuring that transparency and accountability are maintained across all sectors.
In addition to training civil servants, the office is collaborating closely with government agencies, parastatals, and the 17 local government areas of the state to promote its activities and instill best practices in procurement procedures. Dr. Chukwu noted that these advancements are a direct result of Governor Otti’s leadership philosophy and his commitment to implementing reforms that prioritize good governance.
“The success we’ve achieved so far is largely due to Governor Otti’s exceptional qualities and vision for a more transparent and accountable Abia State,” Dr. Chukwu remarked.
