The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to upholding due process in managing the state’s affairs. He made this declaration on Saturday, September 14, 2024, during a Child Dedication and Thanksgiving Service for Miss Victory Chizurumoke Eze Nwaigburu, daughter of Dr. Benson K.O. Nwaigburu, Director General of Abia State Debt Management Office, at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Okpuihie District, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area.
In response to a request from the Traditional Rulers of the Old Okporoahaba Ancient Kingdom to construct the Okporoahaba-Umuoko road, Governor Otti emphasized, “Our government is one that adheres strictly to process. We don’t allow any abuse of due process.”
The governor assured the community that the road project would be considered, urging Dr. Nwaigburu to remind him regularly so it could be included in the budget. He explained that without budgetary approval, the project would be difficult to execute, and he reminded the audience of the poor condition of the state’s roads when he assumed office, noting that his administration is working to repair them one by one.
Governor Otti further stressed that the primary focus of governance is the welfare and happiness of the people. He highlighted that his administration has been servicing debts incurred by previous administrations without taking on new loans.
The governor also encouraged the congregation to remain steadfast in their faith and not let anything shake their trust in God.
The event attracted several high-ranking government officials.
