The Labour Party Amuda Ward Umunneochi LGA Abia State, held a pivotal meeting at the party’s office, marked by significant leadership changes and reaffirmationsof party integrity and loyalty.
The meeting commenced with a prayer led by Chief Vincent Eze. Presided over by Mr. Onyekwere Uwaezuoke, who commended the members for their strong turnout, emphasized the inclusive nature of the party, stating that it belongs to no single individual and that members are free to join or leave at will. Mr. Uwaezuoke, serving as the Umunneochi local government liaison officer for Hon. Amaobi Ogah, assured attendees that resources provided by Hon. Ogah for Umunneochi will be delivered faithfully and without alteration.
In a detailed submission, Mr. Iroh Chieki recounted his role in introducing the acting Chairman, Mr. Orji Amaechi, to the State Labour Party Chairman, Hon. C.K. Igala, and Dr. Oluebube Chukwu, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Abia State on Due Process. He emphasized his guarantee of Mr. Amaechi’s loyalty, which led to the state chairman handing over the party register to them. Mr. Chieki highlighted a controversy where Dr. Oluebube Chukwu’s name was placed first in the register, leading to a disputed suspension by the acting chairman and the secretary, which members viewed as an illegal act.
Following these revelations, the members unanimously resolved to remove the acting chairman and the secretary from their positions. Mr. Ignatius Ude confirmed that both had been informed about the meeting.
Nominations were then called by Mr. Onyekwere Uwaezuoke. Mr. Denis Uche was nominated and unanimously elected as the new Chairman of Labour Party Amuda Ward 2. Hon. Ifeanyi Chukwu was similarly elected as Secretary, and Engr. Prince U. Ebere was elected as Provost II, all unopposed.
