Manchester City survived a huge FA Cup fourth-round scare against League One side Leyton Orient, with Kevin De Bruyne coming to the rescue in a 2-1 comeback win.
According to the Guardian, City found themselves behind in the first half after a stunning long-range effort from Jamie Donley, which hit the bar and bounced in off goalkeeper Stefan Ortega for an own goal. Brisbane Road erupted, with home fans dreaming of a giant-killing.
Pep Guardiola’s side, who made nine changes, struggled to break down a determined Orient defence. Jack Grealish, back in the starting lineup, hesitated on a clear chance, summing up City’s frustration.
But the Premier League giants found a way back after the break. A deflected effort from Rico Lewis leveled the score in the 55th minute, before De Bruyne produced a moment of quality, running onto Grealish’s clever pass and flicking a finish past the keeper in the 78th minute.
Orient refused to go down without a fight, nearly grabbing a late equaliser, but City held on to book their place in the FA Cup fifth round. No shock in the end but it was a close call for Guardiola and his men.
