16-year-old Kevon Watkins, from Georgia, became frustrated with his poor internet connection while trying to play video games on Xbox. In an attempt to improve the connection, he changed the Wi-Fi password to block others in the household from using the internet.
When his mother confronted him about the decision, an argument ensued. Kevon’s older sister, Alexus, intervened to protect their mother, but the situation quickly escalated. Kevon placed Alexus in a chokehold, refusing to release her despite all the plea from his younger brother and mother.
By the time police arrived, it was too late. Alexus had been held in the chokehold long enough to suffer brain damage due to a lack of oxygen. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Kevon was later tried and sentenced to life in prison for his sister’s death, highlighting the devastating consequences of unchecked anger and impulsive actions.
